I'm of two minds on this one -- there are too many "rules" about what can/or can't be posted -- but cutting down to just the two suggested ones seems a bit of a reductio ad absurdum. Unfortunately, I have no idea about the "correct" number of rules regarding off topic statements that I would reduce to. I really don't think there is (or can be) a "magic number." A lot depends on context.

That said, I think a reduction to Doctor X's proposal would be much better. The site is about miniatures and wargaming. If you want to mouth off about a pet peeve -- with racial, religious, ethnic, or gender slurs, post on Twitter. That's what it exists for.

POLL DESCRIPTION

Allen57 proposes:

The number of rules applying to what can not be said on TMP has grown to the point where I don't think they are easily enforceable. In many instances, they also seem to violate freedom of speech.

I suggest Bill drop all those rules in favor of just two:
  1. Personal attacks and name calling are prohibited.
  2. Racist posts and racial slur words (such as an old term for blacks which starts with N and rhymes with trigger) will not be permitted. Bill's choice as to what is a racial slur word should adjudicate this.
People can ignore posts they don't wish to become embroiled in. I know some of the readers are not adults. Perhaps we should have a warning about adult content as a header to the message boards, and the two rules I suggest be posted there also.
