55lb recurve is quite a serious bow. Mine pulls a mere 42lb on a 28 1/2 draw and is about all I need. However archery is not about strength, it's about stamina, consistentcy and concentration. I really need to get a grade this year (haven't been shooting enough to get graded). If I make second class target, maybe I'll get that scythian bow I've been looking at. For the chap who asked, I don't thing LARP bows count. These are of such light draw (so they don't injure) that there is no technique (close those shoulder blades!) in drawing them, reducing them to fun toys. Not that I'm knocking LARP, used to enjoy that myself when I had the time and energy to run around woods like a looney dressed as an Elf.... |
