If you're not reading the comics in their original Gaulish & Latin you are missing the nuances

I got a few in Latin for my kids way back when*, but my Latin has never been good enough to enjoy reading even something so simple.

Simple on the surface. As others have mentioned above, there was a lot of good humour in these books, and some good translators that worked well to bring it along with them.

* actually most of the versions of these (and TinTin, and later Hellboy) in different languages that I have, I bought "for my kids".. :)

POLL DESCRIPTION

Frothers Did It And Ran Away says:

The Asterix books gave me my first insight into the classical world as a young 'un; they're full of little bits of classical learning in between scenes of Roman legionaries getting bonked on the head or used as golf clubs.

What's your favorite entry in the history of the plucky little Gaul and his fat friend?
