I think Historical tournaments (Primary Ancients) have a huge following and hardcore gamers. I do wish they were more beginner friendly however. I do not see many first timers picking up WAB but a few at DBA. As for me I do not play in tournaments anymore as I do not have the time at the conventions to do so

I've noticed that more and more games are written with tournaments in mind; it's impossible to read a GW publication without seeing the word multiple times. WizKids and WOTC also seem to put more and more emphasis on tournament play. It seems that tournies are the only reason for gaming anymore, according to these companies, and that everything you do should be geared towards winning them. |
