With soft plastics there is too much chance of the paint flaking off if the figure gets a bit of over exuberant handling which would require constant re-painting/re-touching. Pre-painted soft plastics NO, but hard plastics may be worth looking into.

Question came up recently… If there was a company that made soft plastic, pre-painted minis that were relatively cheap (i.e. $1 USD to $2 USD a fig for 28mm, $1.25 USD or less for 15mm), carry the entire army in figs, at the same quality as the WotC D&D line (dodgy at best), would you switch over from metals that you have to paint? Less painting, more playing for the sacrifice of metal/hard plastics and painting them yerself?
