So I guess I should ammend my answer to made up but believable.

Ivan DBA wonders...

Do you typically attempt to paint medieval figures in historical liveries, or do you just make them up?

Obviously, the question assumes that (1) the figures in question are from a time and place in which liveries were used, and (2) there is enough source material to make at least an educated guess as to what the colors were. For example, retinue troops from the Wars of the Roses.
