| POLL DESCRIPTION |
This is a contest to determine which logo will replace our current (temporary) Sponsoring Member logo, which members who are also advertisers at TMP will display.
Please vote for the best five entries. The top 5 will advance to the final round of voting.
(The designs are shown against a white background, similar to a post heading on the forums, and against a light green-grey background, similar to our articles format.)
Brigade Models has volunteered prizes for our Design a Sponsor Icon contest. The final top three winners will receive product vouchers worth £10.00 GBP, £15.00 GBP, and £20.00 GBP!

Here are a few merchant icons that I whipped up while at work.

Obviously based on the pre-existing Supporting Member design, which is already that size.
I thought it was important to introduce some level of standardisation. This will help to prevent the website being overrun by a horde of mismatched logos and emoticons which bear no relation to each other!
This also gives you the option of letting people upgrade from Supporting to Sponsoring members indicated by, effectively, a simple change in logo colour (which would also fit with the idea of differently-coloured Fezzes (sp?) for different 'degrees' of moderator, etc) clearly marking the two 'levels' as similar yet distinct.
I know you specified 'anything up to 30x30' but in the interests of aesthetics, standardising the image size is the best thing you can do, even if you do go with a different design. The masses have already voted, proclaiming this as a 'good size', so I think you should stick with it.

This one is similar to the supporting members logo, save the Lt. Gen. rank is replaced by an American Dollar. Well, they advertise, sell miniature-related stuff et al., so I thought it was appropriate.

It's similar to the Supporting Member logo but not a clone, it has a military look, and its rank insignia compares well to the three-star Supporting logo - everyone knows that the generals give all the orders, but it's the NCO's that make things happen.

Jakar Nilson's Daddy Warbucks Icon | Design by Jakar Nilson
Another of the ideas I had was Daddy Warbucks (from Little Orphan Annie) as the sponsor icon. Well, he did make his money selling millitary items, as do the sponsors (even though they are scaled-down representations); he likes little people, as do the sponsors (and the members of TMP); and he's helped out those less fortunate than he, just like the sponsors make Bill's life less troublesome.

I wanted to go for a design similar in style to the Supporting Member's logo.

I thought a "Quartermaster"-themed logo would be appropriate for suppliers, so I used the key and sword symbols used by U.S. Army quartermasters (no real room for the wheel).

Bilben's Icon | Design by Bilben
The inspiration was that this would identify members that are also vendors in the business, so symbol reminiscent of currency seemed appropriate. So you have one that looks like paper money.

Some may say a cannon is too era-specific for an advertiser logo on TMP. Yes, "miniatures" encompasses a range of eras and settings, but I see no reason to let that adversely affect use of such an icon as the cannon in the logo. I say let's have a specific, concrete symbol in the logo - the cannon - not some meaningless compromise. I'm hoping you'll say so, too.
My entry is a graphic of a cannon above the word "SPONSOR." The color scheme is a simple white/green gradient for the background with a green border; the cannon and text are black (well, greyscale). The colors are easily changed, and the graphic can also be resized to some small extent, although fitting in legible text could be problematic if the graphic is made smaller. Of course, the text could simply be eliminated, although my feeling is that it does make a positive contribution to the logo.

For this logo, I copied the one for Supporting
Members, but with an instantly recognisable background
colour. By keeping it similar I am striving for
uniformity and elegance. And yet, when once in a while
a green background appears, there would be (I hope) a
clear indication that there is something special
about the person posting.
