I like using rules from a "family" with similar mechanics as it makes it easier to add a new period/gaming level. For example, I use Iron Ivan skirmish rules which allow to do do French and Indian War (and AWI through War of 1812) with This Very Ground, as well as WWII platoon level with Disposable Heroes and WWII squad level with Point Blank. There are some basic mechanics which make it easier to a new set without much difficulty.

The other sets I play are Impetus for Ancients/Renaissance and Republic to Empire for Napoleonics.

ochoin deach Inactive Member wonders...

I've been gaming with one ruleset (a Napoleonics one) exclusively for several years.

Last year, my gaming chums wanted to branch out, so we now game regularly with five sets: two Ancients, a WWII, 7YW and the Naps set. And there's talk of adding ACW to the mix.

Now, I'm not a stupid person (hey! No need for wiseacres in the peanut gallery!) but I do feel a bit overwhelmed.

Rules all tend to have the same parameters, of course, but the fine detail sometimes escapes me: a factor here, an exception there.

Have I gone a "bridge too far"? How many sets of rules do you regularly juggle?
