"Why does it have to be a modern riot?" My thoughts too. Modern riots don't interest me as gaming material, but a lot of historical disturbances do. Luddites, the Gordon Riots, the "Burdett incident", the Peterloo Massacre, etc.; all potentially rich gaming material. What dissuades me is not so much cost or rules mechanisms but a paucity of suitable figures. Incidentally, one of the most spectacular games I have ever seen was Todd Fisher's 25mm extravanganza featuring the Paris Mob surging through the streets and storming the Tuilleries, much to the consternation of the Gardes Suisses. I don't know how well it played, but crikey it was beautiful. |

With the conventions of the major U.S. political parties coming up soon, there has been much discussion of the possibility of violent protests - perhaps similar to the riots that broke out in Seattle when the trade talks were held there.
As a wargamer, would you ever "game" a riot? |
