When we have more than five players at the board, I usually consider "stacked" turns where multiple players act at the same time.

Formal stacking is where the turn mechanism dictates which subset of the players are active at the same time. Usually those are players on the same side. For example, you can often stack cavalry or infantry with artillery/archers. Unless you're last name is Bolton, you shouldn't create targeting overlap conflicts.

I also encourage and support ad hoc stacking for a large game where players declare something like "while you guys roll that out, I'm going to move my guys over here that aren't in your way". This works well in any scenario (urban, especially) where the action tends to "cluster".
