Like a lot of poses myself one of the reasons I made the Adler WW2 range. Must redo the Russians mind you as the a bit limited pose wise.

POLL DESCRIPTION

From WWII to SF, let's say you are going to purchase a pack of ten figures (regardless of size for this poll) from a minis maker to make a "squad" of infantry (so 1:1 ratio).

How many different poses do you expect to be able to choose from to be able to craft your squad?

For me, pose variety is critical in choosing my mini maker prior to choosing which company I will go with for skirmish gaming.

To answer my own question, I like six poses. Now, before you jump all over me and say six is way too many poses to expect of a mini maker, let me explain my request.

In a squad, I like to have an independent squad leader pose, a special weapon (SAW, missile launcher, etc.), and then out of the remaining eight figures, I like to have two each of four poses. I can live with having having the remaining eight divided into three poses, but that's the lowest (five poses total in the squad) I would go!

Having less than five poses in a ten-man squad is not worth it to me for a skirmish game. That is why Critical Mass Games, Peter Pig, and Ground Zero Games are my current favorite companies for skirmish-level gaming. They offer the best options for multiple squad creation with numerous pose variety options.

Rebel Minis gets an honorable mention, but they are still playing catch up with some of the types of troops that either need command packs or support weapons packs or both fleshed out.

Khurasan is another one that is really starting to turn out some great variety of poses, in particular where it comes to the Federal Troops and their Space Demons. I think a couple of their lines like the Felids, Sepulvedans, Garn, Vespulids, and Lhurgg could all benefit greatly from an added pack or two.

Additionally, I have yet to invest in the otherwise outstanding "Alien Mercenaries" from GZG minis due to the critical lack of poses (three per pack).

Yes, I'm a demanding customer, sure. But I also spend several thousand dollars a year on some of the above mentioned companies.

Anyway, what say you? How many poses?
