I disagree with you single-pose fans. That 'toy soldier' look has never appealed to me.

Even for armies where soldiers were to march in step in massed formations, I think it is STILL more appealing to see some variation. To have heads looking in different directions, arms off in different directions, the occasional slacker out of step … it's just so much more appealing to the eye. And also more fun to paint and position these figures on bases.

For this reason, I offer the highest praise to those manufacturers who offer multiple figures for each general category in their miniature figure offerings (e.g. firing & loading, charging, marching, etc.). Good examples include OldGlory25s & Blue Moon, OldGlory15s, and Eureka. My hat is off to you all. For all of the others, I implore you to offer us something a little more imaginative, otherwise you'll never earn a place in my wargaming budget!

I like to see identical figures all in the same pose in my miniature armies.

At smaller scales the differences are harder to see.

For instance, single figure for 'regular' troops, a bit of variety for 'irregular'.
