Covert Walrus writes:

Voted for "KIller Angels" because it was Micheal Shaara's best mainstream novel, and it's a great tale of the ACW. He also wrote a lot of damn fine short science fiction in his tragically short career. Being a soldier in Korea, his description of combat and the public perception of the military is from life, and his son Jeffrey has carried on the work with his novel "Gods And Generals" and the Michael Shaara Award For Excellence In Civil War Fiction.

His story "Soldier Boy" is worth the time to locate and read.
