Novik also really thought through the use of dragons as essentially "gunships" of a sort, and the idea of them being crewed with multiple men fulfilling similar roles to men on a ship. (And it's clear she researched naval vessels and tactics of the era as well.) Closest thing to a fantasy Patrick O'Brian. Not quite his calibre, put still pretty dang good. So yes, she'd be an interesting voice to hear from. |
