I started in my teens with rules in three volumes. I'm happy with "buckets of dice" but I want rules to be clean, simple and internally consistent. Mind you, I want them to reflect the period, but I'm tired of having more types of Napoleonic infantry than Wellington or Napoleon would have recognized, uncommon types required by game tactics and tricky gaming stuff trumping sound historical tactics. More complex is not more realistic.

For some reason the older some gamers get the more they seem to regress back to their teenage years when they now seem more than happy to use rules with reams of tables and buckets of dice.
