Somtimes thinning with water leads to crazing when a paint or wash dries acrylic thinner give the mix a lower surface tension so it settles and dries more smoothley. If I'm painting a large flat surface like an aircaft wing a touch of washing up liquid in the paint mix also reduces the chance of ridging when the paint dries. |
