POLL DESCRIPTION

unknown member muses:

The quite prosaic title for this conflict fails to excite and is not even accurate as you can argue the war was of longer duration. It is distinguished by quite a number of alternate names (Third Carnatic War, the French & Indian War, La Guerre de la Conquête, etc.) which focus on specific theatres. Even at its broadest, this conflict was two, quite different struggles: one centred in central Europe with the campaigns by and against Frederick of Prussia and the other colonial conflict fought between Britain and her Bourbon enemies.

So a suggestion to re-name it is not entirely ludicrous, with the understanding that such a suggestion has not the slightest chance of being accepted (too many books published that use SYW).
