Well said JJ. A lot of time the dust sniffers who turn up their noses at non "Golden Daemon" standard , non GW level paint jobs can't do the work themselves either. This is how I suspect some of the conversations go…

"OOOOh here! Take a look at this Bondage Goddess of Knhorne I just did! See the ultra detail on her chainmail bikini and the handcuffs she's wearing…" Why can't you paint like that?"

REPLY: "A. I'm not working the 'Chapter approved' GW 28/32/9 million and 6 mm scale that is sooooo popular today with the "in" crowd. B. I'm rarely doing a single character, even in 28mm. and C. I have an army of guys to do that will not be ogled to see if their naughty bits have been shaved or not! I just need to get them to look 'good enough'period!" "Oh, BTW, you DID paint that figure didn't you?"

I use the arms length rule. Depending on the scale if I can see it at arms length I need to worry about it. I also invoke the rules of washcoat and drybrush: Washcoats and drybrushings can hide a multitude of painting sins.
