to me those are all "rulers"--sticks with distances marked on them in some system or another. Except that they are also providing advance and transfer ratios like the Wings of War/Glory card templates:
You absolutely can calculate advance and transfer as separate orthogonal measures and apply them, then calculate rotation and apply that. Or you can use the widget above. One of the "cool" things WOW did was the Sopwith Camel and to a lesser degree the Fokker Dr.I had different turn rates depending on whether you were turning right or left. So the templates on the cards physically implemented that. Same thing with the curved templates. If movement is not in a straight line, it's good not to have a stick.
Again, you can do a half a dozen piece-wise measurements instead of one. Error goes up, fun goes down. |
