I also cut my own bases in very large numbers and occasionally get a little nostalgia buzz when i find a pack of bases cut for something i no longer play. I have no issue with mixing them. I _do_ have trouble keeping cm and inches straight in my hand when playing – so many of my games are in inches that when I play in cm I keep moving too far and have to 'back up' – so I have asked my daughter to pick me up a metric-only tape measure next time she is in europe. In the course of a rules review while writing in The Reiter, John Holly remarks: My only objection to the basing and measurement scheme is that it, in effect, maintains the same old use of two different systems: metric and imperial. I wish that rules would follow one system or the other. Is it OK for a rules system to use, say, metric sizes for bases, but imperial measurements for movement? Should rules mix measurement systems? |
