The Editor, as so often, is right, the AK-47 combat method rather neatly weighs a number of factors – dumbness of firer, dumbness of tank crew (should they really ben going into combat with the hatches open ?), quality of firer's weapon, maintenance level of tank depot back at the warlord's palace, availabiluity of spares for tank, morale factors, and well a lot more all into 1 neat little die throw which usually gives a satisfactory result. The rifle platoon take out the tank ? You see a grenade in through the driver's hatch will do that. It's the same simplicity which makes DBA's pip roll reasonable – there are plenty of rules that let you trace the path of a messenger around the tabletop to see if the order gets trhough – but throwing 1 on a D6 actually simulates the same thing with less trouble. Doesn't suit every game, but it's elegant. |

Some say the combat system isn't realistic enough, or is too random. Are you satisfied with the existing combat system for Peter Pig's AK47 rules? |
