POLL DESCRIPTION

Coelacanth says:

I see a lot of discussion of authors past and present on these pages; as it should be. On the other hand, writers of the future are conspicuous by their absence. I would like to remedy this serious omission, beginning with one of the most well-known authors of futurity.

HRH Irulan Corrino (c. 10,175 ? AG) was reckoned among the first rank of authors of her day. For much of of the Matter of Arrakis, she is the sole extant primary source. Small wonder, then, that for his posthistorical novel, Dune, author Frank Herbert cited her work so extensively. While scholars decry her writings as anything but objective, Herbert was writing a work of fiction, and so made ample use of her colorful (if occasionally prolix) accounts.
