Back at the beginning of the year, a contest was announced to design a better Supporting Member logo than our current design -
The contest winner will receive - courtesy of Hobby Products - an Armalion boxed set of Zombies - ten 28mm figures sculpted by Werner Klocke. So - which logo do you prefer? | |
jlstuht's design | jlstuht's design - It ain't beyootifull, but it's an icon. Unfortunately, the "T" got lost behind the arm when I shrank the poor guy down to size. |
|---|---|
Wolfe Games' design | WolfeGames's design - I have taken the time to make you a spiffy icon. |
Rebound's design | Rebound's design - I think the design is simple and elegant. It has some nice color to it. |
Cubeblue design (silver bars) | cubeblue's design - This icon is my personal favorite because it looks the most pleasing to me. It's simple, crisp, and easy to discern from a variety of resolutions. It is obviously a stylized army insignia, I believe for the rank of Captain. This denotes more a level of honor and experience without portraying every Supporting Member as the king. Since it is military oriented, it is somewhat more tied into our hobby. I went with a deep blue field for the badge, as opposed to green, so as to further it's association from modern military; after all, there are many different miniature gamers that come to TMP, not just modern gamers. The badge has a simple drop shadow effect that adds a little more oomph to the otherwise simple design. I've gone for a silvery metallic look, which I hope is readily recognizable. |
SNTG Wolf's design | SNTG Wolf's design - I designed the phoenix rising over the TMP letters to illustrate not only a Supporting Member designation, but more importantly, rising above - and overcoming - current problems. |
Cubeblue design (crown) | cubeblue's design - I chose the crown because it denotes nobility and high honor. I think stepping up to the plate and becoming a Supporting Member is a noble cause, deserving of some honor. I think the crown is more likely to get the attention of those members who are not yet familiar with Supporting Member status. It begs the question "what is special about these folks?" more than a mere star does. My only reservation about the crown would be that it might a little misleading for people who are new to TMP: they may end up thinking someone else is the Editor or that the site has many webmasters. |
Cubeblue design (sword) | cubeblue's design - This is actually my least favorite of the three that I have submitted. I liked the idea of a ceremonial sword. This to me seems to tie in the wargaming aspect of our hobby with the prestige and recognition of being a full blooded Supporting Member. I think it is the best symbolically, but I'm afraid the end result is an image that leaves me less satisfied visually than the others. |
