So two species of elephants were used in war. The now-extinct North African Elephant used by Hannibal and later the Ptolemaic dynasty. And the so-far-still-alive Indian/Asian Elephant. Apparently a now extinct sub-species of the Asian elephant (Syrian) was quite large.

You also have the non-wargaming-related African Bush Elephant. While not used in war, it is the big daddy of them all. And then the smallest of them all, the African Forest Elephant (might be about the size of the extinct North African Elephant).

Prehistoric ones are a no-go. So no mammoths (woolly or otherwise). Even though I do know a small dwarf species lived in Siberia, while Egypt built its pyramids. They still don't count.
