For buildings a good base and a couple of quick drybrushes are all I do.

For ground, I paint it all with a thick brown coat, sprinkle a flock and rock combo, except where I want it to be more patchy, and then concentrate on just sand/dirt.

Once it dries, I cover it with a 50/50 Water White glue mix, and hit and bare spots I may want to cover up. At this point, I also glue on any other features that I want to be permanenet (rocks, tree stumps, etc.).

T finish, I either use the glue water again, or use a spray varnish (cheap Krylon or Wal-Mart matte sealer)

I got a ton of terrain to paint, so I decided to make it into my 2010 project.

When I finally got rolling on it, I was really taking my time. Painstakingly washing, highlighting and detailing. Making sure it was the same quality as my figs. Looks great, but sure takes forever!

My buddy (you know who you are... Steve and Ev...) showed me a "looser brush technique," which made the buildings go really quick.

But I realized that, while it looked great at arms length, I felt it "robbed" the terrain the patience/effort (that only I seem to notice) I usually put into my minis...

Which camp do you fall in?
