I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Glass-cockpit stuff aside, a computer flight sim is to the real thing as dryer lint is to sex either you've never experienced the latter or, if so, it was a regretable event.

Any game mechanism (including all mentioned above) comes nowhere near 'simulating' flight (which I have experienced), and so I imagine has no chance at all of coming near the experience of aircombat (which I -thankfully- have not experienced).


"Flight-sim" is a crock.

"Aircombat-sim", on the other hand (which involves much more than the mere physical manipulation of the weapon), is a topic ripe for exploration… ; )

I always hated boardgames which tried to do 3D aerial combat.

Usually had 3D plotting of simultaneous moves, which involved an incredible mount of tedious record-keeping, etc.

Thank goodness for PC flight simulators.

Does anyone still play boardgame-based flight simulators/detailed air-combat games?
