I clean and prime the entire army at one time. Clean them all up ( I play ancients, mostly) and glue anything except spear & shields to them.

Then I spray prime the entire lot and leave to dry/outgas for 24-48 hours.

After that, I paint all the fleshy bits and stain ll the horses. Then it's on to the detail work one unit at a time.

By unit, that's one base for Impetus, so between 10-12 minis at a shot. I get one unit done before going on to the next.

Lastly, I paint and detail all the shields and spears/pikes/javelins, then glue them on.

Finally, clear coat them all at one time with a spray matte finish.
