Since I gave up the 'real' job nearly 10 years ago wargaming IS my job but getting commissions out to customers does still mean that I sometimes miss out on games or fail to get my own painting done.

I find my hobby to be a useful field of contemplation during interminable meetings and professional development sessions where your input is unnecessary, only your corporeal presence is needed.

And then there's various resources such as a great guillotine which I use (in lunch breaks) to cut up the thick card I use as bases, or the multi-thousand-dollar color laser printer I use to print flags (at a very small cost).

Indeed, if nothing else, work provides an income to buy more "stuff".
