If the name of the landlord was Fenwick that may have been a cousin of mine.

Well, what we have here is yet another mid-life brain pfffft! It was indeed Callander (village) but Abbotsford Lodge. My wife has just shown me the A&A road map on which we traced our travels and the journal entry to convince me.

The village in question is 15 miles or so northwest of Stirling on the A84, instead of a similar distance southeast which leaves us out of Falkirk's environs by a bit. huh?

It was on our honyemoon trip back in 1978 so I guess the pfffft can be somewhat excused? old fart

DAF:

After reading Walter Scott's "Tales of a Grandfather" many, many years ago, this is a period that I've always had an interest in gaming.

I'll have to read that for sure, logging on to the local library now, thanks.

PS – DAF: Book is requested and on its way via inter-library loan. Wonderful thing the electronic age, what?
