It really depends. Skirmish games cry out for removable roofs, although I have also used separate floor plans. These are not necessary in larger scale battles. Buildings with removable roofs tend to be larger & take up too much space for big battles, so for non-skirmish I prefer fixed roofs. |

darthfozzywig I really like removable roofs and (to one degree or another) modeled interiors with miniatures placed inside, while I know some folks loathe that and find it too fiddly. Even with my preference, I don't always practice it, depending on the game and circumstances. |
