Dal, I used to BE a wargamer under 30. I was just being cheeky, mate, considering the number of posts about the whiting of the hobby (we've already gone through grey). I think most of the people on this board could claim that, Robert. I was even a historical gamer under 20, once. (IIRC) What I can't find are historical gamers in--well, any age range at all unless I travel. The younger gamers at the club are up for the odd historical game, now and again. They prefer the simpler games- eg Wings of Glory and What a Tanker (basic game)- and Warlord's Epic Napoleonic system was popular last year. But they do prefer Sci-Fi more- Kings of War seems to be a favourite. Those of us without zombies, Pegasi and wizards may be in a minority, these days, but we ain't completely gone, yet. I spent a nice afternoon getting Command Decision rules mixed up with BattleGroup rules this afternoon. (My opponent/instructor had to deal with that and very unfriendly dice.) I'll get them sorted in my head eventually. |
