I've always used Krylon's "Crystal Clear" but dislike its tendency to gloss up the figures if applied too strongly. But I accept it in return for providing a hard finish that protects the paint and allows for handling and even careful washing to remove dust if necessary. I've always been leery of using a dull coat finish lest it dull stuff I want to gleam or shine, like metallic armor or shiny leather that was painted in glossy paint.
