My medieval/fantasy troops vary a lot. Peasants are in drab colors; elves are in greens, browns, and greys; men-at-arms and knights are in bright livery, etc.

Even then it varies. My fantasy humans don't obey the rule of tincture, but my medieval humans do.

My wife recently commented that I use all the same colors when painting... lots of green, brown, tans, etc.... and I reply that those are the best colors for rangers and Wood Elves! However, I've seen some very cool versions that use lots of bold, stand-out colors. So I was wondering...

Do you tend to use the basic go-to colors for your fantasy figures, or do you like to step out and go for more "unrealistic" colors... blues, reds, yellows, etc.?
