I sold off my armies with multiple figures on each base and now go with single figure basing on metal bases and magnetic movement trays. Each tray represents either a company or a grand division, so it is easy to form columne, square and line. I like being able to remove single casualties from the tray.

While reading a thread on Naps basing, I wondered what gamers prefer.

I used to do single base, coming from the GW school, but switched when I started Napoleonics. I'm glad I did; quicker to base, quicker to transport and to move on the battlefield (especially when changing formations), and most important, I find it looks better and allows for small-diorama type units.

Single, of course, also offers advantages, mainly the flexibility when playing different rules, and the absence of re-basing needs. Might be others I don't see.

So, for those basing armies (skirmish games obviously using single base), what do you do?
