The 2023 edition of Kingmaker makes a lot of improvements over the original (it also includes the original rules for those who want that). The new one includes scenarios for 2–5 players and victory conditions that go beyond having the last surviving crowned monarch.

The original as-is is still a fine engine for generating tabletop battles.
