Woad tattoos, an enduring piece of misinformation said centuries ago by those unfamiliar with woad or it's effect on skin. Woad doesn't dye skin, it burns skin. It's a plant native to the Steppes and Central Europe. Scythian folks who lived there practised tattooing and, not being cloistered monks with zero clue regards tattoos or ink, used charcoal to mark their designs. My fine Scottish skin is covered with tattoos, my miniature Celts have none. |
