Not until after I was attacked by a dog and laid up with 4 score stitches and my dad brought home 3 Airfix boxes. Until then my parents held the, at that time common, misperception that it was the war toys that made boys want to fight wars. As I grew up to be an Airborne Ranger they were wrong.

When I started having children my parents wanted to ensure that I let them learn to play with toy Soldiers etc. I have allowed and encouraged them in this area and so far they just want to keep them as games not a way of life. Making Gramma very happy.

I believe that I was in middle school, about 13-14 years old.
