I think the Campbell family should sue GW for "borrowing" the name.

lugal hdan muses...

In particular, I'm talking about non-humor-based SF and Fantasy games which use faction or unit names that are clearly just minor re-spellings of other, more well-known names.

Games that are supposed to be funny, like Battle Cattle or Critter-Tek don't count, since they are clearly meant to be humorous. (Fear the BunnyMaster!)

One of the prime offenders here (IMHO) is Privateer Press, whose "Khador" and "Cygnar" are clearly parodies of GW's "Cawdor" and "Sigmar". Really, guys, you couldn't come up with your own names?

I find this sort of fluff-humor unamusing to the point of irritation in a product that is not supposed to be a parody. Others may disagree; hence the poll suggestion.

(For the record, I don't give a flip about GW's "propriety" or anything like that considering their "orkz" and whatnot, and parody *is* fair use. GW may in fact be the biggest offender of them all, but that's not at all my point.)
