I've yet to watch BOAN, (just seen clips of it), but I have sat through TOTW.
1: is it boring? YES.
2: is it a well produced piece highlighting evil as good? DEFINITELY.
3: Was it a harbinger of things to come? Indeed.
4: Should it be required watching for anyone taking a poly sci class or going for a poly sci degree? Definitely.
5: Should it be a lesson for all of us just how easily we could slip back into a proverbial "New Dark Age"? Absolutely…

Would I watch it again? It was decades ago, so actually I might sit down to watch it again to keep the it's warnings fresh in my head.

Historian Richard F Snow has written that he detests Birth of a Nation, which he says:
…reflects at its ugliest the tacit, Mephistophelean deal in which the North made amends to the postwar South by pretending that both sides has been defending causes of equal virtue…
Yet he also acknowledges the film as one of the greatest historical movies ever made, and that the battle scenes "…give one the eerie sense of watching Civil War newsreels."

As an ACW gamer, would you watch Birth of a Nation? Or have you already seen it?
