POLL: Your Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film From 1984 (Final Round)

Of those listed, Ghostbusters wins the "which one of these would I put in the Blu-Ray player tonight as a solo" assessment.

The Terminator: Too violent for casual viewing— gotta be in the mood to see all the bullets flying.
Red Dawn: This isn't science fiction or fantasy. Also too violent for casual viewing.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom: The worst of the trilogy. I'd only watch it in a marathon of all three. So not a solo film for me. Plus it has the absolutely terrible Kate Capshaw in it. I do not want to hear her scream multiple times again.
Star Trek—The Search for Spock: I love Star Trek and this is a fine entry, but you don't watch it alone— you watch it in tandem with Wrath of Khan and The Voyage Home. It's a transition film, like The Empire Strikes Back and The Two Towers— it doesn't make sense on its own.

So that leaves Ghostbusters as a stand alone film that makes for a great casual decision to watch— fun, fantastic, cook the popcorn, grab a soda, settle in for the Murray/Akroyd/Ramis/Moranis silliness. Oh, and Sigourney Weaver. Definitely her.

But my actual pick from the original list would have to be:
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension
What's not to love? It's got a watermelon in it!
