Following on from the oprevious thread: TMP link I have now had to move my site to: link The old address will remain for the time being and will bounce all vistors to the new address. Whether the familiar url will remain in the future has not been decided yet. Also to ensure the survival of the site we are having to experiment with advertising. These decisions were not taken lightly but survival of the site is my first priority. The hosts of tiddlyspot are very understanding and I will be working closely with them to ensure its smooth running. I am indebted to all the offers of help both financially and practically from both the wargames hobby and the tiddlywiki developers. It appears there is also a great disparity in hosting costs between America and Europe which has also affected me runnng a .co.uk website.$11 dollars/month (UK) in comparison to $2.25/month (US), 15GB traffic (UK) to 250GB traffic (US) additional charges of $9/GB over allowance (UK) to $0.10/GB(US). Please bear with me in this difficult time and any comments are always welcome. Pete Jones (webmaster) freewargamesrules.co.uk |

You can, of course, host a .co.uk website anywhere in the world. My blackhat.co.uk site is hosted with Hostgator in Florida for £8.00 GBP a month for 100GB bandwidth (and unlimited domains). Mike |

Is/was it absolutely necessary for you to run a ".co.uk" website merely because you are physically in the UK? Couldn't "freewargamesrules.com" have been an option and allowed you to stay with the parent company of your "1and1" host mentioned in the other thread? One doesn't have to operate a ".ca" site just because one is in Canada, for instance. Just curious. Keep up the great work, Pete! |

Good luck with it Pete. In recognition of your contributions I'll get the first pint in tonight. Dave |

The new link isn't working for me, any idea why ? Tony H PS Phalanx wasn't all that bad. We were there (Tiny Tin Troops) and hardly a WW2 figure on the stand – a Pirates game, ancients and ECW were all there too along with at least two horse & musket games. |

Hmmm
Actually, it worked fine for me yesterday, but I see today that it didn't work. Part-way through the long-ish "loading" process, it stopped, signifying that it was "done, but with errors". However, the box in the middle of the screen remains, claiming it is "loading" still. And either way, it doesn't allow access beyond that screen. Not sure why. |

I'm getting the same response as Napoleon III. |

OK e-mailed the site administrator – all seems fine for my end. Have posted old site back_up for time being: freewargamesrules.co.uk |

Howdy, Tiddlyspot works great for me, slight delay in loading but almost not noticeable. Thanks again Pete! Greg

It would appear there were some problems with IE and the Adverts. Both Opera and Firefox follow strict W3C Protocols and surprise, surprise Microsoft have deviated from them. Anyway we have removed the ads and it is now working again for IE. freewargamesrules.tiddlyspot.com |
