Yes, it's long been known that early mammals evolved and lived during the dinosaur eras and (obviously) survived the worldwide extinction cataclysm when the dinosaurs did not.

The dinosaurs probably had newspaper headlines that read "Disgusting Furry Vermin Things Will Survive Global Cooling Event, Scientists Say."

That's right folks— back then, we were the indestructible pests! laugh
