While I don't know about the japonica (the Japanese wild
mountain yam) the yams grown in the US South do have
nutrients which boost our immune systems.

Just bake as you would a potato and eat 'em without slathering
with butter or other oddments

But they taste much better with a bit of butter and cinnamon. Yum! Yum!

I only eat healthy food if it tastes good.
If food tastes good, it means that God wants you to eat it, so it's good fir you.

I believe everything can be good in moderation (and if it's used for it's intended objective purpose, of course).

Adding cinnamon (also an immune booster) helps a bit
with the taste for some folks, especially heavy smokers.

But I'm happy with just the basic yam taste. Those
have natural sugars and are fine for me the way they are.

Japanese yam slices with ginger and [insert your level of spicy here] bake up to make some good finger food.
