"Wolves are a mysterious, highly intelligent creature. Living at the top of the food chain, they are effective predators, hunting in packs as a family unit.

Native American tribes had great respect for wolves. They had strong spiritual connections to them. But over the span of history, it's rare that wolves have been able to co-exist with European man. Wolves evoked fear in the Grimm's fairytale classic Little Red Riding Hood, dating to the 10th Century. Wolves were exterminated from Northern Europe by the Middle Ages. To many, they were the symbol of the devil…."

Native Americans were perfectly capable of killing off entire species, or poorly manage their resources – it would be a mistake to view them as environmentalists in hindsight.

In their defense… they were primitive… modern humans… sadly… tried/did kill entire species without remorse…. and any excuse…

It's the natural food chain. The lower you are on the chain the more you become a food source for those above you. It's all about survival. Hopefully, the Homo Sapiens can find a way to sustain the survival of species below them while not eliminating other species.

It appears if a species want to increase its survival potential it will become a sustainable food source for humans. Cows, pigs, turkeys, chickens, and others have done pretty well as humans will let them live a "protected" life span safe from their natural predators. But as we all know, there is a price to pay for enforced incarcaration as a food source. I order turkey sandwiches from Safeway but allow wild turkeys to roam my yard but the Coyotes and Cougars keep picking them off.
