Daily News picked up on a story that nearly had a tragic ending after children were seen playing dangerously on an escalator.

SWMBO and I started semi-binging Stranger Things a couple weeks ago. One or two episodes a night should get us up to speed before the new one comes out.

If you don't know, its about a group of early teenagers (middle school into high school) in a small town during the mid 1980's who stumble across a sci-fi/occult government covered up project.

So even though she and I grew up in small towns during this period, roughly the age of the characters, we still marvel at the complete lack of parental supervision and awareness. Not to say it isn't historically accurate, but more of a "we would have gone to jail in the late 90's/early 00's if we did that with our kids."

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I remember as a kid wandering around the neighborhood in packs with other kids, getting into all sorts of trouble. When it was time for dinner, my grandmother would simply yell until I came home…or I wandered in later & got a scolding. The entire neighborhood was our playground, & bikes were our only form of transportation…

Damon.

Ah, the good ol days when a kid can play with minimal parental supervision. We can get a cut or scrape and cry home to mommy, who will just put a bandaid on and everything is alright.
