Just saw this sad news from American Battlefield Trust… Military Historian Ed Bearss has passed away at age 97 A true legend, Ed was known for what might best be called a battlefield voice. |

I too had the privilege of meeting him at the Houston CRT some years ago. He was a riveting and incredibly knowledgeable speaker. War Between the States information and enthusiasm is diminished by his passing. Thank you for both types of service you gave our nation Mr. Bearss. RIP |

The GREAT Ed Bearss. And what a life lived; 97 years, but you still hate to see them go, especially someone who truly taught from experience. At least we have his interviews to teach and inspire us and future generations. That proverbial "flame" will always keep burning, thankfully. Godspeed, Marine, and thank you VERY much for your service to our country, both in and out of uniform. I salute you, sir. |

Great service to the field of history and to the interpretation of artifacts. Certainly the most unique cadence of any historian I've ever heard speak. RIP |
