but what happens to Black Panther II now ? A new actor? An off-screen death and a new Black Panther? A lot of CGI?

New actor. They had (at least) two Incredible Hulks during the series of movies. Nobody cared. A couple of Spidermans, too. They even rebooted a new Xavier and Magneto from really good actors. DCU has a new Batman every other movie. I think the only MCU actor-role pair that was "sacred" to fans was Hugh Jackman/Wolverine. Of course, they had an easy out … follow the comics and kill Wolverine, replacing him with his daughter.

Given that playing an alcoholic prick wasn't actually acting for Robert Downey Jr., I don't think anyone would have blinked if he got replaced. I don't know that he was particularly protected. He just didn't get replaced.

Speaking solely for myself – he's the best portrayed of The Avengers. Can't actually imagine someone else in the role (I'm sure I'll cope when it happens).

Since Black Panther is a role that gets passed around, some other character taking over the job.

Speaking solely for myself – he's the best portrayed of The Avengers. Concur. He is out of the milieu now – of course he could be brought back. The current (audience acceptable) trend is to go ahead and let characters go for good.
