link the CDC has changed that stance, removing the directions for two-week quarantines…Instead, they share "after-travel" recommendations based on individual countries.States mandating two-week quarantines for arrivals in some cases include Alaska, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey. Is there something about the RONA that makes in different in New York vs South Dakota? The CDC is now saying there is no objective standard for when quarantine is needed. What are we using? Oh that's right politics. |

Sadly, that's all it has become. Scientists are demonized based upon it. Policy is opposed and developed because of it. Doctors are canceled due to what side they seem to support. Even a potential drug that may be a cure is ridiculed solely because someone on the "other side" said it may be of potential use. Yet, it's a one way street. There's only one "side" playing at it. Saul Alinsky would gloat. link |

Oh that's right politics. It wouldn't be the first time that the Administration has been caught leaning on agencies with regards to COVID. For example, there's the recent walk-back by FDA head Dr. Stephen Hahn with regards to convalescent plasma. link Furthermore, as pointed out by many science based medicine practitioners, the political push in the US and elsewhere on HQC and now convalescent plasma has take up valuable bandwidth with regards to proper RCT, but furthermore why would someone sign up to be part of an RCT and have a chance at the proposed therapy, when they can guarantee that they'll get the therapy under Emergency Use Authorization.

science based medicine practitioners That phrase alone is part of the problem; political bias. Every MD and physician has science based education and training. |

To try and supply a partial answer to Mr. Elmo's question (and trust that it makes it thru the static) population density, demographics, travel potential (orlack thereof) and similar factors must surely play a part. IDK how much of the US population resides on the E coast, but the I95 travel corridor includes several of the states mentioned. Hawaii is a much visited tourist destination. Alaska – ??? Why Virginia and Pennsylvania were not on the list is interesting. |

science based medicine practitioners That's typo on my part, where I confused the website (science based medicine) and the epistemological movement – evidence based medicine – that emphasizes large RCTs and gives less weight to anecdotes. Think Cochrane Reviews and the like. Every MD and physician has science based education and training. And yet we are still overwhelmed by practitioners of Supplementary, Complementary and Alternative Medicine (SCAM), such as homeopaths, naturopaths, acupuncturists, colloidal silver pushers and bleach drinkers. |

Herd immunity is starting to come into play as witness the decline in(accurately reported) deaths. |

Herd immunity is starting to come into play Herd immunity isn't a binary thing that goes from off to on. Rather it's a process of reducing the transmission of a thing (virus, bacteria, fungus, parasite) by removing suitable hosts from circulation. This is how vaccination work even if they don't provide 100% immunity for the person being vaccinated, the goal is to reduce the R0 to below 1, meaning that the outbreak will eventually burnout. link |

we are still overwhelmed I don't know where you live (can't be Canada saying things like that), but outside of the rare movie plot that's just fear-mongering and Enquirer type headlines, the only scam is trying to push that as any type of threat. |

White House Coronavirus Task Force member Dr. Anthony Fauci said he was undergoing surgery and not in the August 20 task force meeting for the discussion on updated US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines that suggest asymptomatic people may not need to be tested for Covid-19, even if they've been in close contact with an infected person. "I was under general anesthesia in the operating room and was not part of any discussion or deliberation regarding the new testing recommendations" at that meeting, Fauci told CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta. "I am concerned about the interpretation of these recommendations and worried it will give people the incorrect assumption that asymptomatic spread is not of great concern. In fact it is," said Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. linkCue Entrance of the Gladiators music… |

Both sides' hands are dirty in this respect, and have been for decades. Yeah, at one time I would have said the same thing. Even say it was the "other side", instead. What you may call "both sides", may be the twin heads of the same coin. So really the same side. It goes a bit beyond what can be discussed on TMP so I'll have to leave it there. |
