… 10 Million Covid-19 Coronavirus Cases In 6 Months

"Just six months ago, coronavirus didn't yet have a name, but since January, the virus has exploded, circled the globe and sickened nearly 13.5 million people with alarming speed, a new animation demonstrates.

Data visualization designers at Global Stats used data from the World Health Organization's (WHO) Situation Reports to create a timelapse video that shows how cases counts ballooned in various countries across the word…."

It does a good job of showing it's a Chinese Virus.

That trade war thing is dead now. Think about that.

It does a good job of showing it's a Chinese Virus.

And it shows that the US failed Deleted by Moderator to meet the challenge posed by community spread of a virus starting in late March 2020, and looking at the latest numbers from the Sunbelt… it looks like it squandered the dearly bought time from the lockdown.

The PPE situation is still dire, the ventilator situation isn't in March/April levels of shortage but still dire in the sunbelt, same with ICU units. Unfortunately, Deleted by Moderator

Thank you for pointing out our failures. We always appreciate constructive criticism.

Now would you be so kind as to describe the situation in your own country and enlighten us how to improve?

Glup!.

Now would you be so kind as to describe the situation in your own country and enlighten us how to improve?

There were some early stumbles (as seen that 70% of the early deaths from COVID were in retirement homes), but supporting people to stay home despite loss of income while we get the level of community spread for some time. Similarly, the Fed is proping up provinces that took a massive hit in revenue (fiat currencies can be helpful during more that just war). Similarly, Deleted by Moderator
The results of this can be seen in the per capita covid-19 case numbers (as scaled per population and started when each country got to 1 case/million)

Armand, I feel your pain! Many are saying we may never fully recover from this, but I think history shows we are very hardy and tenacious. Chin up and stiff upper lip combined with prayers of intercession.

Martin, I'm sorry to have to point out none of your claims are based on what is happening.

Massive unemployment, unprecedented debt, 1 out of 3 businesses expected to go under, official policies unenforced (and unenforceable!). No enforcement of isolation. No cancellation of international travel into the country. No screening at airports. Widespread fear among the population. Continued revelations of how poorly care homes are run (it took placing the military in them to help bring that to light). Deaths of patients because they were refused treatment.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. Deleted by Moderator

Wow, sorry to bring it up guys. But thank you for responding, one and all.

But this day will surely pass and somehow it gets to be tomorrow.

Asteroid X23 Jul 2020 8:45 a.m. PST

Yes, tomorrow always comes.

Not sure what the day may bring, but there will be a tomorrow (and despairing over something hypothetical or that we cannot change never helps).

There's no need for apologies. This whole issue is one that has caused immense anxiety and that fear has sadly often been exposed on this sub-board.

USAFpilot23 Jul 2020 12:59 p.m. PST

Imagine a virus so deadly that you have to be tested to know if you have it.

Asteroid X23 Jul 2020 3:50 p.m. PST

And a fatality rate between 0.03 and 0.04 percent!

(of those who've tested positive, of course)

Martin From Canada27 Jul 2020 2:26 p.m. PST

Where did you get those estimates? Those are at last an order of magnitude lower than the rosiest estimates I've seen in reliable sources.

Furthermore, COVID-19 is similar to polio, in that many people who survive the virus are irrecoverably harmed by the virus.

So far, only one peer-reviewed study has reported results on the long-term symptoms of COVID-19 infection: a single group of 143 survivors from Rome. Most of them did not need hospitalisation and all were assessed at least 60 days after infection. They reported a worsened quality of life in 44.1% of cases, including symptoms of persistent fatigue (53.1%), breathlessness (43.4%), joint pain (27.3%), and chest pain (21.7%).

Perhaps you have been watching the ridiculously inflated Florida rates?
