While he was fantastic in LotR (both as Bilbo for PJ, and as Frodo for the BBC), there was so much more to him than those roles! The obsequious manager in Brazil, Ash in the original Alien, Emperor Napoleon (in at least three different outings!), the coach in Chariots of Fire, Fluwellen in Henry V, the monk in 5th Element… Yes, he will be missed, but what a legacy! |

Agreed. No matter how crap a movie in which he appeared looked, I always thought, "well it can't be that bad, Ian Holm is in it." RIP, sir. |
